Kansai Update...

I have now been in the Kansai area for three days.  Prior to arriving here, I had conducted 17 interviews.  In Kyoto, I have interviewed one person so far with a family to interview tonight.

Trip update from Kansai...
I was invited and attended a chado tea ceremony for charity at Nashinoki jinja (shrine).  Visited the amazing flea market at Kitano Temmangu jinja (shrine) and viewed the making of okashi (sweets) and then enjoyed them.  Ate some amazing food at a place called, Cafe Independants which is nestled in the basement of a building from 1928.  Very hipster type of feel.  Lastly, I went to a hedgehog cafe.  I hadn't visited any of these animal cafes prior as I felt the animals were probably unhappy there, but when I saw the hedgehog one I thought, oh they have appropriate homes they are probably living the life so I went.  Now granted it was super cute but they were all exhausted from being touched by people all day.  All they wanted to do was squirm out of your hand and go crawl under their cloth and sleep.  Therefore, no matter how cute they are I do not think I will ever attend one of those cafes again.  Sorry for the rant.
