THE DOCUMENTARY

WHAT IS THIS DOCUMENTARY ABOUT?

Multi-cultured Japanese people who live in Japan as well as elsewhere and their experiences whether good or bad they have had throughout their lives due to their ethnicity.

WHY DO I FEEL THIS DOCUMENTARY IS NECESSARY?

We live in a world that still does not accept people just for being who they are.  As a society, we create labels and biases that ultimately create people who may be unaccepted by their peers within their own surroundings.

THE GOAL OF THE DOCUMENTARY

The #1 Goal is to achieve acceptance for all people.  I plan on completing the documentary and submitting it for viewing at Florida International University as well as some local indie film houses in South Florida.  If it receives a good response, I will continue to push to have it screened in other areas.  After screening the documentary at physical locations it will be available for online viewing.

WHY AM I DOING THIS DOCUMENTARY?

Personally, I feel we should all be accepted for who we are and not by the location we were born, reside in or the parents and families we were born into.  Throughout my life, I have experienced being picked on due to narrow-mindedness, biases, hatred and racism.  Therefore, I know how hurtful words, looks, and actions can be.  I want to change that, even if I can only change one person's outlook on life, it will all be worth it.

MY FIRST DOCUMENTARY

While living in Japan for a year from 2014-2015 I became aware of the word, hāfu (ハーフ, "half") and the different connotations it can have, especially coupled with the word, gaijin (ε€–δΊΊ, "outside person").  I sought to turn all negativity to positivity and un-acceptance to acceptance, thus my first documentary was born.
